Public Service Award
Continuing the tradition of the news media as the "fourth estate," the Public Service Award is presented to the newspaper that has helped improve the community through public service leadership.
This non-journalistic award is presented to a newspaper that has made a significant contribution to the betterment of its community through public service leadership. Entries will be judged on the following:
- A significant effort beyond the scope of the newspaper's normal routine.
- The initiative and activities of the newspaper.
- The results.
Every year, the award is presented at the PNA Annual Convention.
The 2011 winner of the Public Service Award is the York Daily Record/Sunday News for its "Fat Battleground - Obesity in York County" series.
