We’re looking for an experienced leader from communications or related field with great familiarity of Centre County and the state of Pennsylvania. Primary responsibilities include shaping our strategy for future growth, working aggressively to put the strategy into place, providing for local content needs, overseeing the development of new products, and creating a versatile, highly productive news operation. Candidates should have proven skills in innovative and strategic thinking, a full understanding of print and digital journalism, an ability to bring about change, a record of executing plans, a command of emerging technologies in journalism, and leadership experience. Previous newspaper management experience is required.

Advertising Director
The Carroll County Times (Md.) is seeking an Advertising Director. We are only looking for candidates with a track record of success in leading print and digital advertising sales and experienced sales management. The Advertising Director will be responsible for the overall advertising sales results of our retail, classified, digital and special events efforts. The Carroll County Times is a 7-day daily newspaper with a circulation of 24,000 week day and 25,000 on Sunday. The Ad Director is also responsible for advertising sales for our full Landmark of Maryland portfolio of print and digital products, including four weekly newspapers, four direct mail coupon magazines, two free rack real estate publications, seven trade shows and several web sites.
Skills and knowledge required:
- Minimum of 5 years print/digital sales management experience with a proven track record of success required
- Demonstrated effective sales leadership, and a lead-by example coaching style including strong experience of spending time in the field making calls with sales reps and staying in touch with customers
- Demonstrated ability to develop and initiate solid strategic sales initiatives that result in business growth
- Complete understanding of digital platforms and successful revenue growth strategies
- Demonstrated strong persuasive communication skills and customer first mind set
- Demonstrated high ethical standards and a willingness to be actively involved in the community
- Builds strong business relationships and is approachable; works well in a collaborative team environment
- Detail oriented, flexible and well organized, demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast pace work environment

Sports Editor
The Record-Argus in Greenville, Pa., a six day daily in Mercer County, is looking for a sports editor with a strong passion for sports.
The position entails organizing coverage of sporting events — primarily at the high school level and specifically football, wrestling, basketball, baseball, softball, golf, volleyball and cross country — in northern Mercer County, writing stories and taking photos of games, and designing and paginating pages for the section.
We are willing to train the right candidate in design.
Health insurance and paid vacation available; salary will be commensurate with experience.
