Pay It Forward starts when your newspaper sponsors a contest that awards prize money to the person or group who presents the best plan for taking the cash prize and "paying it forward" in an act of kindness to another person or place in need.
Participating newspapers will sponsor a contest offering a cash prize award. Readers will be asked to submit an entry that details what they intend to do, to benefit someone or something in their local community, if they were awarded the cash prize. A judging panel will select the entry deemed most worthy and award the prize to that entrant. A journalist and photographer from each newspaper will cover the story from the presentation of the cash prize through the implementation of the act of kindness.
